OK....I Need the Queen of Swords, now

Not the one on the Tarot cars, but the one on TV during the 2000-2001 TV season in the US, Canada, Spain and elsewhere in the world. Her alter ego was a wealthy heiress, Tessa Alvarado, who had inherited her father's California hacienda which helped fund her efforts by night (and sometimes day) as the masked Queen of Swords. The chaaracter was played by actress newcomer Tessie Santiago newly from Miami. Florida. Life got stressful and I could use a hero just now.

Memorial poem for the Queen in my world

My mom died 51 weeks ago today (April 12-13, 2006). The anniversary of her passing is next week, but I might forget about posting this on that day. Since this poem was too long (and expensive) for a memoriam in the newspaper, I am posting it here. This is for my mom:

If Tears Could Build A Stairway

If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to Heaven
And bring you back again

No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why

Our hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No on will ever know

But know we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store

Since you’ll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where you’ll always stay

--------------------------------------------

Just FYI, this is the memoriam that will appear in the newspaper:

It was just one year ago that our Lord opened Heaven's Door for you. We think of you everyday and still miss you dearly, but will persevere in the work remaining for us here. That is, until we meet again in the land made sweeter just because you're there. Awaiting the time when we will sorrow no more, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Queen of Heaven

And here is another relationship between the Queen and my mom: The church where my dearly beloved mom's funeral mass was held is called and is named after the "Queen of Heaven." L'Chaim, IRamat2

L'Chaim!

To Life and Happy First Night of Passover to all who celebrate!

My apologies for not writing for more than a year and a half. The year 2006 was tough. I figure that hardly anybody sees this, and those who were hounding me on a Yahoo! Groups list have finally gone their own ways, so I can write my news here.

Well, relating everything to "The Queen," my queen died one year ago next week--that is the first night of Passover, 2006. Since tonight is the first night of Passover, 2007, it seems like a good night to remember my queen....my beloved mom. Her name was Irene Agnes. Irene is Greek for "peace" and Agnes is Latin for "Lamb." So from the moment of her birth, she was designated as the Peaceful Lamb. That designation really tells who and what she was. My mom lived up to her name. She was always teaching me to be aware of another person's feelings or point of view. She never wanted to be the cause of another's consternation. She was a truly wonderful person, my best, friend, and I miss her. Not wanting to be a downer, but since nobody reads this (except the forester who keeps wanting me to look at his blog), I think I will spend a number of posts reflecting on my mom. The queen of my life.

And speaking of Queens in Life, "The Pirate Queen," a musical from the creators of Riverdance and Les Miserables starring the fantastic Stephanie J. Block premiered on Broadway last week. Stephanie played Elphaba, the wicked witch of the west, in the Stephen Schwartz musical "Wicked." The official cast recording of the play will be made on April 30th, so hopefully we will be able to purchase a copy in June. Hopefully, I will write more about this subject, too. (Just FYI, the musical is about the life of Irish sea pirate, Grace O'Malley.)

Thanks for reading!
